Jezail Afghan Flintlock Musket with East India Company 1806 dated Lock
A very interesting Afghan musket, a jezail, with long barrel with cannon shaped muzzle, brass mounts, and a British East India Company flintlock musket lock marked Leigh, and dated 1806. The musket has bone inlays on the butt, sideplate and wrist, it was made with no trigger guard, but does have sling swivels. The barrel alternates between round and octagonal, and has a buckhorn iron sight. The gun has a steel ramrod. The remnant of a sling is attached to the front swivel. Condition:
Good overall condition. The wood shows a lot of wear. The lock functions, although the frizzen spring is weak. There are remains of pitting on the steel, and the gun shows signs of use over multiple generations.
