Framed oil on panel, designed and sketched by Wayne Thiebaud and painted by Mel Ramos, Pat Dullanty, David King and David D’ Angelo for the bedroom of his Land Park home in Sacramento home, 1959-60. A copy of a Wayne Thiebaud signed and dated letter on John Natsoulas Gallery stationary documenting the history is included with this lot.

Wayne Thiebaud was an American painter known for his colorful works depicting commonplace objects—pies, cakes, lipsticks, paint cans, ice cream cones, pastries, and hot dogs—as well as for his landscapes and figure paintings. Thiebaud is regarded as one of the United States' most recognizable artists. He is associated with the pop art movement because of his interest in objects of mass culture, although his early works, executed during the fifties and sixties, slightly predate the works of the classic pop artists. He used heavy pigment and exaggerated colors to depict his subjects, and the well-defined shadows characteristic of advertisements were almost always included in his work.
