W. Rudolph San Francisco Made Double Barreled Percussion 10 Gauge Shotgun

A very fine double barreled 10 gauge percussion shotgun made by William Rudolph, and patented by Rudolph and Braun. William Rudolph was born in Kassel, in Germany, but emigrated to the United States, becoming a citizen in 1858. He established himself as a gunmaker in San Francisco in 1859. He moved to Pacific Street in San Francisco in 1861. Along with his employee August Braun, he applied for several patents, most notably the percussion lock seen on this gun. The gun is handsome and well-balanced. The mounts are plain steel. The wrist and forend have fine checkering. The barrel has “Fine Laminated Steel” engraved in gold on the rib between the barrels. There is a spot on the underside of the butt where a fiting was removed. Dimensions: 47.5 inches long overall. The barrels are 30.5 inches. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $65.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.

Condition:

Very good condition overall. The barrels have a deep brown finish. The breech and locks are patinated, and the patent is a bit hard to read. There are minor handling marks on the butt. Witherell's strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders.
