US Model 1840 Artillery Saber & Scabbard by Ames

The sword is complete and clean, and a very fine example of this desirable saber. Dimensions: 39.75 inches long overall, with the blade being 32 inches long. Processing within the continental U.S. $65.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.

Condition:

Very good and better overall condition. The grip is excellent, with 100% of its original leather and wire. The brass has a pleasing patina. There are a series of very shallow strikes in the pommel, but they have been there a long time, and have a dark patina. The blade is bright and clean, although there are a few nicks along the cutting edge. The scabbard is extremely nice with one small dent.Witherell's strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders.
