US 1840 Musician’s Sword with Etched Blade

A very nice US 1840 Musician’s sword by Horstmann, with a nicely etched blade. The etching includes a stand of arms and florals, and a line of leaves is etched along the square back of the blade. There is a partial scabbard missing the lower half and the drag. Dimensions: The sword is 34 inches long overall, with the blade being 28.25 inches long. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $65.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance. 

 

Condition:

Very good overall condition. The etching is generally quite clear. There are a number of tiny nicks along the edge. The brass of the guard is fairly dirty. The scabbard is missing its lower half, but the upper half is intact. There are small dents on the top of the throat, and the leather is scuffed. Witherell's strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders.
