Union Surgeon George Cutter, 127th NY Volunteers CDV Photo

A very fine carte de visite image of Surgeon George R. Cutter of the 127th New York Volunteers, known as the National Volunteers. They were mustered into Federal service on Sept. 10, 1862. They served mainly in and around Charleston, South Carolina, and mustered out on June 30, 1865. The CDV has an inscription at the bottom, “Father Geo. Cutter M.D. Civil War 1861.” Based on those dates it seems likely that Cutter had earlier service in a New York Militia unit at the beginning of the War. Accompanied by copy of roster. Dimensions: 2 ¼ by 3 7/8 inches.  Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $30.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
