SUTTER'S MILL, GOLD RUSH, INDEPENDENCE (3)

Three (3) FAMILY DOG/AVALON BALLROOM Handbills. The first card depicts a '49-er panning for 'gold' ('green gold') at the corner of Van Ness Avenue and Sutter Street, and celebrates "The Discovery of Gold at Sutter's Mill", the concert featuring the Quicksilver Messenger Service, and Country Joe and the Fish; the second card depicts the Family Dog Indian logo rising out of a winged pot, for a concert titled "GOLDRUSH" featuring Quicksilver Messenger Service, John Hammond and his Screaming Nighthawks, and Charles Loyd; the third card announces a July 4th concert titled "INDEPENDANCE" ('sic'--the pun created by replacing the 'dence" in "Independence" with "dance") featuring Quicksilver, Siegal Schwall, and The Phoenix. All three cards were designed by Rick Griffin.
