Steel Hilted Chain Guard Spadroon Sword

A handsome and interesting Spadroon, straight bladed sword for a foot officer, probably of the Militia, with a steel “S” crossguard, connected by a chain to a plain birds head pommel. The grip is sharkskin, with silver triple wire wrap. The langets are plain, as are the other parts of the hilt. The straight blade is blue and gold with bright acid etched panels. The decoration is fairly generic with florals and trophies of arms, but one of the vines has a Liberty Cap rising atop a spear. There is no scabbard.

Condition: Condition is very good, and nearly excellent overall. The hilt is clean and there is only very slight wear on the grip. The blade is clean, and the blue is a little faded. The edge appears to have been sharpened along the blue portion’s edge. The bright portion of the blade is excellent.

Size: The sword is 36 ½ inches long overall, and the blade is 31 ½ inches long.
