Seated Union Soldier Sixth Plate Tintype

A very fine image of a Union soldier in a frock coat, seated in front of a painted backdrop on which there is a stack of muskets and a cannon breech. The soldier appears to have his cuffs folded on the outside, so he may be wearing a brand new uniform issued that day. The image is in a leatherette case with a star design on the cover, and a velvet pad. Dimensions: 3.25 by 3.75 inches in the case. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $30.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.

Condition:

The image is very clear.  There are two small scrapes above the head of the image and a faint arc as though it had been in a different matte. The case has a broken leather hinge but is otherwise quite nice. Witherell's strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders.
