Rare Colt Baby Dragoon Revolver with 6-Inch Barrel

Serial number 793 places this interesting “rammerless” Baby Dragoon during the first year of production, 1847. Serial number 793 observed on barrel, frame, triggerguard, backstrap, cylinder, and the barrel wedge. Finished in full nickel, possibly during the period of manufacture by the Adams Plating Company in New York. 6-inch octagon barrel. Top flat marked 2-line: “ADDRESS SAML COLT / NEW YORK CITY”. Left side of frame marked 2-lines: “COLT’S / PATENT”. Square back triggerguard. 5-shot cylinder with roll die Indian Fight scene. Cylinder marked: “COLTS PATENT 793” Chambered in .31 caliber percussion. One-piece varnished walnut grips. Backstrap is inscribed: “BUFFALO N.Y. GEO. E. HAYES”. CONDITION: Excellent overall. Nickel plating has a soft mellow patina with 97% remaining. All markings are sharp and clear. The barrel address is soft in areas. Action is tight and crisp. Bore is exceptional, bright and clean. Original screws are very fine and unmolested. Wood is very fine show modest wear. This is a most interesting, early & scarce Colt revolver that deserves additional research. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $35.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
