Pre-Civil War Infantryman in Shako, 1816 Bayonet, Quarter Plate Daguerreotype

A very fine and rare daguerreotype image of an infantryman in dress uniform, with French style shako with tall white plume, high-collared double breasted coatee, and with an 1816 bayonet at his waist. He is wearing white belts with a crossbelt plate and shoulder scales. The quarter plate image is in an open style thermoplastic frame.

Condition: Very good condition. The frame is very good, but there is a chip missing from the lower right edge. The image appears to have been lightly cleaned at the edges and corners. There is speckling on the image, but the details remain clear.

Size: The image is 3 ¼ by 4 ¼ inches. The frame is 5 3/8 by 6 ½ inches.
