Occupational Tintype Photos, Mid-Victorian

Farrier exceptional half plate tintype in gutta percha frame. The man is seated with the tools of his trade, including a hoof pick, a hammer, a horse shoe, a medicine bottle, and a horse’s hoof in his lap on a heavy apron. The frame is black gutta percha with a crack in the lower right hand corner. The image has some very minor scrapes.

Dimensions: Varying. The frame with the Farrier image is 6 7/8 by 8 ¼ inches. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $30.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance. 

 

Condition:

Several of the tintypes have minor scrapes, but all are quite clear especially regarding the tools associated with their trades. The Farrier tintype has a very fine gold matte, and the frame is handsome, but has a crack in it. The first Teamster tintype is excellent, as is the carpenter. Witherell's strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders.
