Miller, Sloss & Scott San Francisco 3 piece Carving Set

A handsome carving set of 3 pieces with mother of pearl handles, by Miller, Sloss & Scott, a pioneering San Francisco hardware firm that ceased operations in 1901. The set consists of a carving knife, a carving fork, and honing steel. All three have matching sterling silver ferrules engraved with script letters “M,” and mother of pearl handles, while only the knife has the firm’s name.  The name on the blade reads, “MILLER, SLOSS & SCOTT S.F.” The sterling ferrules have a matching design of an anchor, ropes, and stars, with an oval panel with the engraved monograms. Dimensions: The knife is 14 inches long overall, with the blade being 9 inches long. The fork is 10 inches long, with the steel portion being 6 inches, and the steel is 12.25 inches long with the steel portion being 8 inches. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $45.00 plus 15% replacement cost insurance.  

 

Condition:

Excellent condition on all three items, the knife blade showing minor signs of use, and the silver being tarnished. Witherell's strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders.
