L.H. Buchanan The Pyramid Trade Stimulator, 1893

One of the earliest penny drops, from August 1893. This L.H. Buchanan company is from Pasadena, California and manufactured this type machine for use in general stores, cigar stores and hotels. Players could win one, two or five cigars for a penny. A fully segregated cash box guaranteed the integrity of employees not to give away cigars for unwarranted wins. Printed on front, "ILL. 302 / L.H. Buchanan & Co. / Pasadena, Cal. / Patented August 29th, 1893." Dimensions: 23.25"h x 12"w x 8.5"d. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $75.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.

Condition:

Several scattered areas of loss (please see photos). No lock on back. Lower front base moulding missing.
