Indian Mughal Period Brass Dhal Shield with Floral Designs

A beautifully decorated brass Mughal period dhal, possibly made for a Muslim nobleman. The entire face is covered in finely inlaid and painted scrolling vines and leaves in red and gold, with larger leaves in a deep teal color. The four bosses are black and gold colored, with designs echoing the red and gold designs on the rest of the face. There are two concentric bands of black and gold color circling the rim. The reverse has the original central cushion, but the handles are missing.

Condition: Excellent overall.

Size: 23 inches across, and 3 ½ inches deep.
