A very fine internal hammer double barreled shotgun by Liddle & Kaeding, of San Francisco. The gun has fine Damascus twist barrels, and engraved locks and action, with the name Liddle & Kaeding appearing on both locks and on the barrel where it is engraved, “Liddle & Kaeding, San Francisco.” The stock is very fine, with a pistol grip, checkering at the wrist and on the forend, and handsome engraving on the action. It has an oval escutcheon on the underside of the butt, and a slide safety on the barrel tang. Robert Liddle established his gunmaking business in San Francisco in 1859. He was joined by Charles Kaeding in 1866. They continued in business from 1866 to 1889, when Kaeding sold out his part of the business to Liddle. They were the largest gunmaker in San Francisco during those years. Dimensions: 45 inches long overall, not including the one inch rubber pad. The barrels are 30 inches long. Very good overall, with a crisp, tight action, and clean bores.
