Cased Colt 1849 Pocket Revolver & Accessories

A very nice cased Colt 1849 Pocket Revolver in .31 caliber, with flask, bullet mold, cap tin, screw driver/ nipple wrench, and a number of rounds of old lead bullets. The gun is serial numbered 289378 with all matching serial numbers, and was manufactured in 1866. The barrel has the single line New York address. The gun is in very good plus condition, retaining about 60% of the original blue and case hardening. The cylinder scene is excellent and clear as are the grips. The barrel is 4 inches long. The case has been refinished, and has brass lozenges with the initials “CF” added to the front. It has the original key in the lock, which still functions. The flask has a patriotic scene on one side. The bullet mold is brass for two bullets- one conical, one round, and is marked Colt’s Patent.  The cap tin is full, and enameled black. The case is lined with royal blue velvet that appears original to the case.  Dimensions: The case is 9 ¾ by 5 ¾ by 2 inches tall. The Colt is 9 5/8 inches long overall, with a 4 inch barrel. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $30.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.

Estimate: $1000.00 – 2500.00.

Condition:

The gun is in excellent condition. There is very little silver left on the trigger guard, but the barrel has a lot of the original bright blue. The action is extremely tight and crisp. The flask has one small dent. The bullet mold is worn, but solid. The outside of the case has been refinished in a plain wood finish, and has letters “CZ” attached to the lid. The lid is not a perfect fit, slightly overlapping the bottom of the case, but the hinges appear original and are very good. The underside of the lid has replaced blue velvet. Witherell's strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders.
