California Arts and Crafts Tile Top Table (#2)

California Arts and Crafts Tile-Top Table, #2. The table constructed in brown stained oak, the rectangular top with outward curving ends inset with six, 6" x 6" square glazed ceramic tiles, the above raised on turned oak legs, connected by a shelf. Measures: 28 1/2" W x 17 1/2" D x 17 3/4" H

The tiles were most likely manufactured by one of the California potteries, Monterey Tile, Calalina, or Taylor, and are quintessential 1920s/1930s California Arts and Crafts style. The oak frame shows some scuffs, while the black-background tiles, which together form a stained glass pattern, rendered in that very 1920s color combination of 'Nile' green ("Eau de Nil") and "Tango-Color" orange, with touches or ocher and white. Tiles show some chipping and grout losses to the edges.

In fine original condition, with some signs of wear as stated.
