50 Portraits from San Francisco

A collection of 50 portrait photos including a very large and possibly unpublished portrait of Lotta Crabtree, cabinet cards, CDVs by San Francisco photographers, most prior to 1900. These include a number that are identified including Lotta Crabtree, Opera star Annie Louise Cary, Mayor James Otis, sugar tycoon Claus Spreckels, and many others, including two that are clearly of members of old Californio families. The Lotta Crabtree portrait appears to quite possibly be unique, and is large: 12 by 15 inches, and by a famous San Francisco photographer, Bradley & Rulefson.. The other images are by a number of San Francisco photographers, including Shew and others. Dimensions: The Crabtree photo is 12 by 15 inches in a frame. The cabinet cards are generally 4 by 6.75 inches. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $30.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance. 

 

Condition:

The majority of the images are excellent. There are a few that have chipped mattes, but literally only 3 or 4. Witherell's strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders.
