19th century mahogany traveling lap writing desk. Leather interior surface with gilt trim. Contains one glass inkwell and pen slot. Also contains a worn paper reading, "Property of / Lydia Leavitt Rowell / Born: 4/19/1797 / Married: 12/15/1817 / Died: 12/12/1862 / Laurenceville, N.Y. / My Great-Grandmother / Hood's Great-Great-Grandmother." Likely English. Dimensions: 5.75"h x 17.75"w x 9.75"d. Condition: Fair/poor. Missing upper exterior decorative inlay, cracks in wood, wear to surface. Interior: Missing drawers, lids, one inkwell. Generalized wear to surface. Non locking. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $85.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
