1796 Light Cavalry Officer’s Saber Sword, beautiful Solingen Blade

An extremely fine 1796 light cavalry officer’s sword and scabbard, with beautiful blue and gold decorated blade marked “G. Keller” and “Solingen” under the langets. The iron hilt is the standard for its form reverse “P” guard, birds head pommel, with no ears to the backstrap, and plain langets, and a black leather wrapped grip with two strands of twisted wire in the grooves of the grip. The blade is in remarkable condition, retaining most of its beautiful blue and gold decoration, which features florals and trophies of arms with no national distinctions. The bright section of the blade retains its bright polish.

Condition: The iron of the hilt shows minor atining. There is minor wear to the leather grip. The blade is excellent, retaining almost all of its brilliant fire blue and gold in the engraving, and the bright section of the blade remains brightly polished, and free of nicks. This is a truly exceptional condition blade.

Size: 37 ½ inches long overall, with the blade being 33 inches long.
