How it Works

Whether you have one piece or an entire estate to sell, we can quickly and seamlessly get your items to auction.

  • The first step is to have your item evaluated by one of our experts to determine if it is suitable for consignment:
  • If we need to analyze your items further, we may make an appointment to visit you.
  • Once we have mutually agreed to consign your item(s), we will issue you a Consignment Agreement form.
  • In some cases, we can immediately store your items until they are sold.
  • 45 days (or sooner!) after the auction closes, we will mail you a check!

The Details

Witherell’s Consignment Requirements

One item valued at $1,000.00 or more, or at least four items valued at or above $2,000.00 (or to our specialist’s discretion).

Characteristics of a Consignable Item

We take into consideration age, condition, provenance, and market value when estimating an item.

Consignment Agreement Form

This form itemizes all consigned property, estimates, and the percentage we take from the auction. All consigned property is insured on our policy as soon as we take possession of it.

Consignment Deadlines

Due to advertising deadlines and production time, the deadline for consignment is one month in advance of the auction. We hold auctions throughout the year, including our monthly themed auction.

Auction Promotion

Witherell’s will promote your item(s) through multiple channels in order to gain the best exposure. Our auctions are live, and run simultaneously online so that we reach the most people throughout the U.S. and internationally.

Payment

You will receive payment for your item(s) within 45 days after the auction closes. Included will be a detailed breakdown for each lot sold.
